Toys for 1 year old boy

It is such an exciting time when your baby boy turns one! First birthday parties bring families together to watch babies take their first steps, say a few simple words, and wave “bye-bye!” These developmental milestones are things that most boys can do when they reach a certain age. These changes in how your son plays, learns, talks, moves and behaves are all exciting to watch as parents and grandparents. When your baby boy turns one, the crawling starts to turn into walking and will soon become jumping and even running in just a few months! 

From the time toddlers have their first birthday until their second, they certainly move around a lot more. Especially little boys become much more aware of their surroundings and want to explore. Chances are your baby boy is now becoming more independent. He may even tell you, “No!” If you hang a Moover mirror on his bedroom wall, you will notice that he now recognizes himself in the mirror. If you have placed a picture on a Moover shelf in his room, he can now point to each person and recognize the image as a representation of himself and others.

One big developmental milestone for boys at this stage is that they begin to imitate the actions of others, especially their parents or older children. They love to play “house” with wooden kitchens, toy utensils and pretend food.

Feel free to offer him a gender-neutral doll stroller (or a navy blue one!), a wooden baby walker and perhaps the Snug Up Baby Doll named Luis, or Nick, an older Boy Doll. He knows what toys he likes and often requests to play with the same favourite things. He will recognize the names of familiar items, form simple phrases and short sentences and can follow one-step instructions.
